Hoop Dreams Inc. is a nonprofit basketball and mentoring program located in Philadelphia. Established in 2010, our organization was founded with the mission of empowering underserved youth through mentorship, education, and athletics. We address the challenges facing young people by providing programs that promote student wellness, healthy nutrition, physical activity, leadership development, and academic success.

Our motto is “Live. Learn. Hoop.” We encourage every participant to LIVE with purpose, LEARN from every experience, and pursue a healthy lifestyle through their passion for HOOPING.

We are committed to creating a safe, positive, and supportive environment where young people can discover their strengths, build confidence, and develop the skills needed to become leaders in their schools, families, and communities. At Hoop Dreams, every student leaves knowing they have the ability to achieve their goals through hard work, discipline, and perseverance. By fostering positive character, resilience, and accountability, we empower youth to become self-confident, independent thinkers who are prepared for success both on and off the court.

Throughout the year, Hoop Dreams offers a variety of impactful programs and events, including leadership workshops, our Basketball Academy, a Holiday Brunch and Toy Drive, a Back-to-School Drive, a Prom Drive, and other community initiatives designed to uplift and inspire the next generation.

Our basketball academy goes beyond teaching athletic fundamentals. We intentionally incorporate STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) and financial literacy workshops to prepare participants for life beyond the game. Through engaging, hands-on activities, students explore problem-solving, critical thinking, teamwork, and innovation while learning essential money management skills such as budgeting, saving, investing, entrepreneurship, and responsible financial decision-making. We believe that combining athletics with STEM education and financial literacy helps students develop the confidence, knowledge, and life skills needed to succeed in college, careers, and everyday life. Basketball becomes the platform that inspires learning, leadership, and lifelong opportunity.

As a nonprofit organization, Hoop Dreams also instills the value of service by promoting a strong volunteer ethic. Participants are encouraged to become ambassadors for Hoop Dreams Youth Leadership and to give back to their communities through service and mentorship.
